Using Social Media Management Systems

Screenshot-Blog-SMPSocial Media Marketing offers great benefits to your business. It increases brand awareness, helps you to interact on a more personal note with your customers and it’s also great for SEO to direct people to your website/blog.

Make the most of Social Media Management systems to save time, schedule posts for the future and to generate reports to analyse your data. If like many businesses, you have multiple accounts across many social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ then using a platform to manage your Social Media will free up more time for other marketing areas.

Social Media strategy calendar

Before you start to schedule your posts, a good idea would be to create a social media strategy calendar template. This doesn’t have to be anything too in depth just jot down the main features.

  • Month
  • Day of the week
  • Topic (e.g. cupcakes)
  • Post type (e.g. link)
  • Content (e.g. recipe)

What posts to schedule

Once you have completed your calendar for the month you can then use this as a guide to schedule your posts. You may be wondering, what sort of posts are best to schedule? These are the type of posts that you would like your customers to see more than once.

  • Event
  • Competition
  • Blog post
  • Promotion

You can use the auto-schedule that is available on many social media management systems to schedule multiple posts many times.

Are all posts suitable to be used on social media management systems?

You may want to carefully consider when posting the same content across all social media networks at once. Research your audience, your audience may be different on Facebook then it is to your audience on Twitter. You may wish to use hashtags on your content, so this won’t be suitable for Facebook. Twitter only allows you to use 140 characters so if you have a lot of information to send then using Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+ would be best for this.

What social media management systems do I use?

There are a number of companies offering social media management platforms so use whatever best suits you and your business and one that you are most comfortable at using. Research the pros and cons of each platform.

The platforms that I have found to be very good and easy to use are Hootsuite and Sprout Social both are different and they each have their pros and cons.

Spend time looking at each one, but you may decide that you want to use both.
